USDA Forest Service Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program
The USDA Forest Service, State, Private, and Tribal Forestry is seeking proposals for the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (Community Forest Program or CFP). The Community Forest Program (CFP) is a competitive funding program that assists Indian tribes, local governments, and eligible conservation non-profit organizations in establishing community forests through fee simple acquisition of private forest land.
All applications must be received by State Foresters or Tribal governments by January 12th, 2024.

The Community Challenge Grant - 2023
The Community Challenge Grant Program encourages and promotes citizen participation in long-term and sustainable urban and community forestry programs at the local level. Local and tribal governments, non-profits, and public educational institutions are also eligible. The purpose of Community Challenge Grants is to promote and improve the condition of Arizona's urban and community forests. The program intends to support initiatives that would not otherwise be funded through current budgets, and research project financing is meant as "seed-grants" due to restricted funds.
The online application will be available in October 2023.
New Mexico- Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Grants
The Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Competitive Grant Program funds high-impact projects that promote collaborative, science-based restoration of priority forest landscapes, leverage public and private resources, and advance restoration priorities identified in a State Forest Action Plan or other restoration strategy.
The goal is to direct competitive LSR monies towards program that address key issues, problems, and opportunities in Western lands. The USDA Forest Service provides funding for the LSR Competitive Process. Work has been conducted on a range of property holdings (private, tribal, and municipal government) to lessen the threat of wildfire, promote watershed conservation and restoration, and limit the spread of exotic species, insect infestation, and disease.

North Carolina - Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Financial Assistance
Section 23003 (a) of the Inflation Reduction Act. Conservation Programs for State and Private Forests The goal of this appropriation is to assist tree planting and associated activities within the current provisions in Section 9 of the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 (PL 95-313). Funding will be made accessible to nature-deprived populations and disadvantaged areas through competitive subawards for initiatives such as urban wood utilization, urban food forests, severe heat mitigation, and workforce development.
Application period: October 1st, 2023 and closes at 5pm October 31st, 2023.
Oklahoma - Urban and Community Forestry Assistance
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the Oklahoma Urban and Community Forestry Council, announces the availability of funding to create and promote urban and community forestry in Oklahoma. This program invites eligible government units and/or nonprofit organizations to submit competitive grant bids to accomplish one or more of the urban forestry projects listed in this package, as well as other relevant initiatives. This package provides background information on the Urban and Community Forestry Assistance Program as well as proposal development and submission procedures.
